In the Spring of 2020 I dedicated myself to on-set production safety.
I became a COVID19 Set Safety trainer and on-set Covid Compliance professional during lockdown, and worked out in the field for most of the pandemic. Everyone experienced the collective trauma of COVID19 differently, and it’s my belief that it’s been the Covid Compliance department’s job to help foster a safe space on set to help everyone do their jobs creatively and efficiently while upholding basic COVID guidelines and protocols.
Most of my Covid Compliance jobs have been on short-term NYC-based film/tv/commercial/video projects with cast and crews of 20 people or less. That way I can quickly get to know the crew and tailor my Covid Compliance approach, safety plan, and safety kit for each production. I especially enjoy working on location-based documentary shoots, which is closest to my own field producing background.
In 2020 I collaborated with the startup Set Safety Co-op Community Works Project and the Occupational Safety training Co-op Action OSH to create extensive Covid set safety trainings for industry professionals.
For the last three fall semesters (‘20 through ‘22), I have taught an annual Covid set safety seminar to Columbia University’s Graduate film program. I am currently available for Covid Health & Safety consultations focusing on keeping crews safe and healthy beyond the Back to Work agreement.
